Not a good week on the court..

This past week not the best week for our team.  We started our the week playing at Maccabi Tel Aviv (a team we were tied with for 2nd place) and lost by 12 points.  We were leading the game heading into the 4th quarter but it seemed like we just ran out of gas near the end.  It was a great opportunity missed to show the league how good we were.  After this game we had no time to rest because we had a big cup game on Wednesday.  Our draw was Afula from the 2nd division.  This is supposed to be an easy game for a power 1st division team like ourselves but it did not play out that way.  Afula was leading by 8 at one point during the 3rd quarter.  This may have woke us up because we went on a run from that point and won the game by about 15 points.  This now means we are in the semi-finals of the Israeli cup.  Our next game of the week came on Saturday evening when we played Bnei Hasharon.  This is a team about on our level and it was on our home court.  We knew it was going to be a tough game and a very important game for the standings.  They came out very strong and played us tough the whole game.  It was back and forth until the 4th quarter where they built up a little lead.  The final margin was 4 or 5 points.  Another tough loss for our team.  What made this week especially hard was my playing time.  Total, I had probably less than 30 seconds of playing time throughout all 3 games.  It is so frustrating to do well in practice only to watch from the bench as your team loses.  Coach had a short talk with me after one of the games and said to keep my head up and I was here for the long run and everything.  It is nice to get feedback but I would rather just play.

this is a very hard menatl test for you,
and this test that will effect your career. for you as a player first year outside from the state ,far from home , and not getting minuts after half season, but if you belive in yourself keep workin hard and most important a lot of patience you will get your chance, most of the players fail in this menatl test and go home but the players that succeed in this test become real great players , good luck

Yeah keep your head up. Keep on working on your game and getting better. You seemed like you had been working hard when I saw you in December and was really impressed with your increasing athleticism. I promise you that if you keep on working you will get your chance. There is no doubt in my mind on that, it's just a matter of time. I've been trying to call you on skype so let me know when you get on my time. Take care of yourself. I'm going to try and come out there if possible. Let me know when a good time to come is. Love ya bro. Giigawabamen.

Hey Ben, Dan Etter from Guilford here. I'm covering Legends Weekend (M.L. Carr, Teddy East, Bob Kauffman and World B. Free are having their jerseys retired and Jack Jensen is having the court dedicated to him) for the paper. Because M.L. Carr played in Israel before the NBA, I thought it would be cool to hear your thoughts on them being honored and the fact that you'll be in their shoes someday. I was going to email you, but wasn't sure what address to do so at. My email is detter@guilford.edu, I'd love to hear from you.

In response to your blog, stick it out. Remember that M.L. Carr must have faced similar struggles over the years and later went on to a great career playing along side Larry Bird, and coaching for the Celtics. You're still at the beginning of a long and wonderful, albeit difficult road. Have fun through it all.

Best of luck.
